HCG Weight Loss Diet: Will it Change Your Life?

08.03.09

When used appropriately HCG can be a useful adjunct to lose weight and keep it off!

Obesity has become the new social enemy. In Washington D.C. there is talk of adding
new taxes on fattening foods via the proposed health care reform and of penalizing
obese individuals with higher costs for their care. Regardless of government regulations
we want to achieve and maintain optimum body composition as part of our strategy for

Estrogen and Weight Loss

06.23.09

Many women already in their mid-thirties will experience symptoms of peri-menopause and will put on extra pounds. In order to lose weight and keep it off, a woman’s sex hormones have to be balanced and replaced if lost. One size does not fit all.  Therefore, her treatment should be customized to her own individual needs.

Estrogen has 400 functions in the body. One of those is to make insulin work better, which helps to keep a woman’s blood sugar normal.  This aids in weight loss.  Estrogen also helps the formation of neurotransmitters in the brain, such as serotonin, which decreases depression irritability, and anxiety. Abnormal levels of serotonin and other neurotransmitter can lead women to eat “comfort foods” that also cause weight gain. Testosterone and Body Composition

06.21.09

Testosterone seems to affect fat cell metabolism and fat loss in several ways through:

  • Inhibiting fat storage by blocking a key enzyme called lipoprotein lipase that is necessary for uptake of fat into the body’s fat cells. When fat cells are exposed to testosterone in a test tube, the activity of lipoprotein lipase is dramatically reduced.
  • Stimulating fat burning by increasing the number of certain receptors on the fat-cell membrane that release stored fat.
  • Increasing insulin sensitivity and improving lipid and insulin metabolism, while enhancing growth of muscle fibers and decreasing fat deposits.

All of these effects benefit body composition by promoting lean body mass and reducing fat mass.

You probably thought that cholesterol was bad for you, and the lower the blood level the better. But in reality cholesterol is one of the most important molecules in you body, not the least because it is a precursor to many important hormones. Hence, many men who are taking a cholesterol lowering medicine will show signs of testosterone deficiency.

EPIDEMIC OF TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY IN MEN

06.15.09

As this week is Men’s Health Week I want to put a special focus on the Epidemic of Testosterone Hormone Deficiency in men today. It’s not just women who have hormonal ups and downs. Men as well experience an age-related decline in testosterone, which is linked to a myriad of health problems including excess belly fat. Fortunately, testosterone deficiency is readily detected using a simple blood test and easily corrected with low-cost, natural medication – bioidentical hormones.

We all know that most men are reluctant to visit the doctor in the first place. It is for this reason that I am enlisting the assistance of all you wives, daughters and ‘significant others’ to help the men in your lives get on the path to better health and wellness now.
